The Radio Network

The Radio Network (TRN) is established as a major player in the New Zealand radio market. The organisation owns a total of 129 radio stations operating in 26 markets across New Zealand. It was formed following the sale of Radio New Zealand Commercial (a State Owned Enterprise) by the New Zealand Government in 1996.

Established in 1936 as the National Broadcasting Service, the RNZ organisation evolved through a number of strategic changes. These changes were driven by social and political considerations. Organisational growth was shaped by the social demands of listening audiences and the political reaction to those demands. The result was the formation of a network of commercial stations established in all cities and towns with a population over 5,000.

In November 1996, The Radio Network purchased the Auckland and Waikato stations of Prospect Ltd. This added the well-known Radio Hauraki and Easy Listening brands into the Group's existing stable of brands including Newstalk ZB, Classic Hits, Radio Sport & ZM.

The Radio Network TRN is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Australian Radio Network (ARN). The shareholders in ARN are Clear Channel Communications, USA and APN News & Media.

The Radio Network is a joint venture partner in The Radio Bureau, which represents almost all of the radio industry to advertising agencies and their clients.

PSMA

PSMA Australia Limited is a company owned by state, territory and Australian governments, which was established to coordinate the collection of fundamental national geospatial datasets and to facilitate access to this data.

Established as a government consortium, PSMA was formed in 1993 to create an integrated national digital base-map for the 1996 National Census. Following the success of this base-map, it was made available for commercial use, and is now used in a range of highly successful products produced by the private sector.

PSMA Australia brings together the supply and demand sides of the market place, which stimulates the private sector and ensures access by the public to contemporary and appropriate geographical information.

A national framework has been established to focus the combined mapping resources of Australian, state and territory government agencies and evolve towards assisting them to mesh, cooperate and function uniformly to create high-quality products.

The PSMA Australia National Office operates as the hub of relationship management between data custodians, data managers and clients. Our National Office out-sources all of its operations beyond its critical relationship and contract management functions.
